During December, I always say "Happy Holidays" to people. Why? Because so many people celebrate so many of their own religious holidays during the month of December, and even secular people around the world who don't have a religion, celebrate Christmas as well! Whether it be eating Kentucky Fried Chicken in Japan which is now the Christmas Food of Choice there in 2010 (I just saw on the news this morning), or families around the world embracing Santa Claus and making their own Christmas Traditions their own.
There are other religions that have celebrations and holidays in December as well....Buddhists (Bodhi Day), Hindu's (Gita Jayanti), Jews (Hanukkah), African Americans (Kwanzaa), Islam (Hijra), Wiccan (Litha & Yule), and of course Christians around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus the Christ.
So it is with this reasoning why I say "Happy Holidays" to all people around the world! And next time you hear someone say "Happy Holidays", maybe this will give you more of a peaceful understanding!! Oh, and by the way, according to the Chinese, 2010 is the year of the Tiger. But 2011 is the year of the Rabbit.
With all this celebrating going on, and then the New Year, 2011, just 9 days away, Have Fun! Enjoy! Happy Holidays to all! :-)
